Grandpa's Ghost release career retrospective

Grandpa's Ghost

Grandpa's Ghost will release a career-spanning retrospective on October 26th, coinciding with their entire back-catalog becoming available digitally on Apple Music and Spotify.

To mark the release, the band will be appearing for an in-store performance at Rich's Record Emporium in Collinsville, IL on October 28th.

Lilac Perfume & Stomach Pump plots the band's singular, eclectic path over 23 years and 12 albums—several of which are multi-disc sets. Each stage of the band's prodigious output is represented—the skewed country rock of their first three albums, the deeply fried psychedelia of the Upland years and the sonic experimentation of their work with filmmaker James Fotopolous. Last year's sprawling releases from The Carnage Queen/Country of Piss sessions brings things up to date. The compilation also features two previously unreleased songs, "Flowerland" (from the band's yet unissued soundtrack to Fotopolous' "Alice in Wonderland" film) and "Dance of Death Blues".

Placater is a collective performing spontaneous explorations around the songs of both Hanna and Garrigan, plus improvisations between smaller fragments of the group.

Check out what Terrascope Magazine had to say about their 2LP set "The Carnage Queen":

"Peddling a lysergic brand of americana, this double album re-defines the word sprawling, a long strange trip that takes you places you have never been before...this collection rises easily above its influences to stand proudly as a future classic"

Carnage Queen preorder

The new Grandpa's Ghost 2LP "The Carnage Queen" is now available to preorder in the shop on orange or black vinyl. The vinyl comes with a download coupon featuring a bonus digital album "Country of Piss".

Read a review of the album by Doug Mosurock at Still Single:

Founding members Ben Hanna and Bill Emerson are joined by longtime drummer Jack Petracek and guest guitarist Tim Garrigan (late of stress-metal pioneers Dazzling Killmen), leveraging a sound that approximates a sideways take on Neil Young & Crazy Horse by way of Silkworm, or Wilco meets Shellac, maybe Mark Kozelek via Lungfish. They drive it hard; even the acoustic tracks feel like more fingernail lifters than fingerpickers. No bass player means no tether, so these guys get pretty far out there on the longer tracks...everyone looking for a new record with some teeth embedded in it and some clawmarks on the outside, line up here...Recommended

Grandpa's Ghost

Grandpa's Ghost

The amazing Grandpa's Ghost from Pocahontas, Illinois will release their new double LP "The Carnage Queen" on Transduction Records early in 2017.

The band was originally known for its cow-punk, country/psych sound but over the course of 20+ years, has moved into more experimental terrain, collaborating with other musicians, filmmakers, writers, painters and performance artists.

On their forthcoming album the band is joined by special guest Tim Garrigan (Dazzling Killmen, You Fantastic!) - the album sees the Ghost returning to the roots of song-based psychedelia: blues, rock, country, free-jazz and folk - another stop on their singular journey as one of the braver, original voices of the American underground.
